7.31.11 We were lucky to get some serious thunderstorms allong with the terrible heat so things wilted along with only small deaths. Globe Thistle put out those odd blue globes and never fails to get the "what the heck is that" comments.
7.30.11 Hot today but it was a dry heat. In the future every useful phrase will be a cliché.
7.27.11 Better.
Yes, that was just a grey box below. My mood still.
7.26.11
7.23.11 So, what shall we talk about today? We are going to build a nice site for my art which has been kept in the closet at Toopine for one reason or another. It is very hard to photograph large paintings without 'hot spots', distortion, color problems and other issues but anything at this point would be nice. Below is a piece called White Tree and is a bas relief in a frame.
7.22.11 Table 7.22.11 Cooked at 9:30- records will be broken today. Prepped the plants as well as we could. It's gonna toast my tomatos. 114° F will pop the peppers, wack the watermelons, fry the phlox, do in the daisys, roast rows of Rose of Sharon, but, that's the great fun of summer.
7.21.11 Very hot day on it's way.
7.20.11 Table 7.19.11 (no. 196).
7.19.11 Hey. "Do you ever leave the garden?" Would you?
Grown peculiar over the years. One doesn't change with age but becomes more of what you've always been. One 'ripens'.
First tomatos and apples. (This garden stuff is getting a bit toomuch but I can't help it. It's about sharing the beauty, peace, simplicity of nature.)
7.18.11 Many flowers have a single day to do their thing.
7.16.11 Phlox is phun (above). It was the first plant in the garden, rescued from an old farm being demolished for McMansions.
Small world.
7.15.11 The mysterious, infamous Mt. Misery Rd.: Table 7.15.11
7.14.11 Today is a good day for some Ove:
No! Not YOUR Kath.
This one is nothing LIKE your favorite Kath.
"I hate to admit it," said Kath,
"But I fear a new-born kitten's wrath.
I don't have the nerves
That my stomach deserves.
I get seasick just taking a bath."
About Tommy (Wa)
He's not the best yam in the patch.
His door key is missing a latch.
Poor Tommy is clueless.
He's publicly shoeless
And shirtless with trousers to match.
Kevin, your garden inspired this one.
A botanist warned me of pests.
My flowers get unannounced guests.
They're awesome in blossom.
Just keep out the possum.
If only the plants grew in nests.
Here's one from this morning.
You're teasing me. Poetry Light?
Hey, these are not easy to write.
It's breezy to pen
One or two now and then,
But try writing ten in one night.
7.13.11 Month of hell (eyes wise), and the eyes have it. New set of drugs specially compounded for me seem to be working- at least eyes seem the same size again.
Daniel sees all evenly.
7.3.11 Olive, Metty and Daddy Dan have come down off the mountain.
7.2.11 It's going to be a great day. Headache chemically contained and malaise majically modified. Bring on the people!
7.1.11 July and it better be less dreary than June. Looks good so far. Table 7.1.11:
(From O:) Not about an artist.
(I had to fix this. )
I'm glad that your subject's not me.
You're able to paint what you see,
But the brush is too wide.
I hope when it's dried
That you cover it ASAP.
Some couples will live a charade,
Bouquet'd and displayed on parade.
True love's a tall order
But I can afford 'er.
The price tag was half what I've paid.
Said one near-death victim named Moses,
"Before the grand stage curtain closes,
Key things cross my mind.
What you look for, you'll find.
Since I'm here, I'll catch up on the roses."
June 22, 2011:
I can't say my dog is a dancer--
He's more of a jumper and prancer.
His pawed two left feet
Cannot keep a beat.
On one leg, though, he's quite a romancer.
